Under the Chief

Harriet does not think of herself as the one anybody notices. She is awkward, she is heavier than the women around her, and she has made peace with being invisible on the ward. Then the chief of surgery locks the on-call room door and starts what he calls hands-on training, while the head nurse who has been trying to get her fired waits on the other side of it.

Under the Chief is set in a hospital, and its lead is written as an outsider rather than as the obvious object of attention. That choice gives it a different centre of gravity from the rest: the hierarchy of the ward does the work, and the nurse outside the door keeps the risk present in every episode.

Five episodes of one to two minutes each. The first two are free with a Candy AI account; the rest are part of the subscription.
